With the aim of further strengthening the technical and strategic knowledge of the rice sector, we held the seminar “The Rice Challenge”, a space designed to connect producers, technical assistants and allies in the sector with key issues for the present and future of rice cultivation in Colombia.

The event brought together national and international experts who shared their perspectives on the main challenges and opportunities facing the rice industry. The meeting began with a conference. “Productivity Challenges”, led by the agricultural engineer and marketing manager of Interoc Colombia, José Ariel Rivera, who addressed the current challenges of the sector and the importance of productive efficiency in the field.

Subsequently, the Dr. Joanna Dossman, PhD in plant genetics, presented the talk “Importance of genetics in rice crop productivity”highlighting the role of innovation and genetic development as fundamental tools to improve the performance, stability, and adaptation of materials.

The technical agenda continued with the conference of Dr. Gustavo Prado, who spoke about the Current phytopathological situation of rice in Colombia and Latin America, providing an update on the main health problems impacting the crop and management strategies in the face of the phytosanitary challenges of the region.

The seminar concluded with a closing dinner and musical show, creating a space for integration and networking among the attendees, reaffirming Interoc's commitment to knowledge transfer, technical updates, and strengthening the Colombian rice sector.
